November 14th World Diabetes Day
Today is World Diabetes Day, you know
- Worldwide, 415 million adults had diabetes in 2015, and it is expected to increase to 642 million by 2040
- Only 1 in 2 adults with diabetes knows they have it
- People with type 2 diabetes often suffer from it for a long time without knowing it, and they often have serious complications when they are diagnosed
- 70% of patients with type 2 diabetes can often avoid or delay the onset of diabetes with a healthier lifestyle
- 12% of the world's healthcare budget is spent on adults with diabetes
- The incidence of diabetes in low- and middle-income countries is growing rapidly. Taking Africa as an example, the number of people suffering from diabetes is expected to more than double in 2040
The goal of this year's Diabetes Day is to help 1 million people with diabetes discover their condition during the month of November. Let us also assist friends and family around us to do a checkup together!
